  1. Tip for screen reader accessibility, regarding alt text for logos, leave the alt text blank, so the screen reader skips the logo, the screen reader user has already read the page title. If you want to add a message for screen reader users (if possible) you can use aria-label=”Some text”, to better describe what the site is about, e.g. alt=”” aria-label=”I review toy robots so you don’t have to, welcome to my site, Robot Reviews.” Also, if you use ‘more info’ link(s) use aria-label to better describe what the ‘more info’ is actually about.
    More info on aria-label:

    1. Haha – way to pump out a bunch of tech jargon which means nothing to anyone other than to the people for whom this video was not intended.

Thank you so much! excellent easy to learn tutorial and very comprehensive.

  3. Hey, thank you for this awesome tutorial.
One question: if I want to customize the templates, CSS and JS by hand through editing the code, how can I export the source code and reimport it upon edition?
    Thanks.

@Canardeur you must have figured it by now but for others, you do it by going in the dashboard and in the sidebar look for the appearance option, hover over it and click on the Theme Editor. There you can modify your wordpress template source code from stylesheets, javascript to template php files.

As a web dev student who is about to learn APIs next, this looks pretty awesome. I can see why some people are weary of site creators like this as it could steal their jobs. I likely won’t use WP other than creating templates/themes to sell because I prefer old school, but WP seems to be a great choice when you want something fast.

    Dear Sir,
Thanks for your informative video. I went step by step with what you said, and now I am in the process of completing my web. I have a problem with the home page build step. I did everything; I entered the image, made the logo, wrote the main theme and the description in the second box, but this writing does not appear as transparent as you did in the video, and it is located in a white square box with black font. At this stage, I do not know what to do to make these fonts appear transparent, and everything I do does not make any difference. Would you please guide me?
    I appreciate your effort. Khalil

  6. I’m new to WP, and you made my week! I started my site and then I found your video. I went from INSANE to sanity by following along with the video. Thanks Much!!!

This is what we call a complete and detailed tutorial for WP beginners. Thank you very much!!!!!

  8. Great tutorial. I learned WordPress a while ago, then switched to code based design, now I’m revisiting it. This was a really helpful refresher. WordPress feels kind of awkward to me, but this tutorial makes it easier to get used to. Much different than coding, but kind of more fun imo. Not as much control, but you can get a cool site faster and learn a lot just by playing around with the interface.

    Hi, there.
Requesting a few clarifications from you based on this Theme (Lawyer Template).

    1. Can one change the post metadata icons? For instance, the author icon to one’s own picture, comment icon to another icon, etc.

    2. Can that BLACK COLORr named “Blog” on the pages be done away with and just have the header and header on pages? Or it is a permanent block?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    TIA.

Thanks for your hard work! If I change the code inside the site itself (Appearance – Theme Editor), how can I make sure that when the theme is updated, the data is not overwritten and the code continues to work with the previously made changes?
